The Tax Collector of Indian River County provides full driver license services (including computer testing and road tests). As an agent for the State of Florida’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the Tax Collector must follow the procedures set forth in the Florida State Statutes and Administrative Rules.
As of January 1, 2010 Florida law requires more proof of a driver’s identity. The new rules are part of the Federal Real ID Act of 2005 by Congress out of concern for the security of our nation.

Appointments are required for Driver License tests (including Learner's Permit, Driving and CDL (Commercial computer testing). Tests for Indian River County may be scheduled through the State of Florida's Online Appointment Service and Information System (OASIS) or by calling the State at (800) 303-7288.
